The rolled plate technique was further refined to become a continuous process. Using this method, the molten glass mass is forced through two rollers. The distance between these determines the thickness of the glass. Via a rollway the glass sheet reaches the annealing furnace.

In this way, glass of regular thickness and high quality can be produced. Nonetheless, this glass, too, needs further polishing. It was produced in different qualities, the highest of which was dubbed ‘crystal glass’.
