The best evidence for early glass prdoduction in Egypt comes from the excavations at El Amarna. However, the glass and even the workers were still imported from neighbouring countries in the Near East. Glass ingots resemble colourful stones, and consequently glass was called “stone of the kind that flows”.

Ancient Egyptian glass is among the finest from the ancient world. The glass produced was put to a wide range of uses such as beads, amulets and vessels for valuable substances.
