2006
At the end of 2006, the French glass manufacturer Saint Just approached Van Ruysdael with a bold vision: to combine their mouth-blown glass with the HPI vacuum glass that Van Ruysdael was supplying at the time. The aim? To provide historical windows with unparalleled insulation.

However, applied research revealed a surprising truth. This superior insulation created an undesirable indoor climate with harmful consequences. This proved that the traditional insulation approach with only high U-values can be counterproductive.

It highlighted the uncompromising performance of the original Van Ruysdael glass. By moving beyond merely achieving the lowest insulation value and going further than any other type of insulating glass, Van Ruysdael received international acclaim. In the heritage world, it was described as "an evolutionary product that maximally contributes to a comfortable and healthy indoor climate while ensuring the future value of historic windows with the necessary natural balance."

Van Ruysdael glass quickly became an icon among restoration architects in France. This opened doors to prestigious locations such as museums, wine and fashion houses, and even the Palais Bourbon and the Élysée. Van Ruysdael’s combination of transparency and glass distortion creates a unique play of light and remains a cornerstone for restorations. With a deep understanding of historical features and natural balance, we continue to evolve this timeless allure for a new era.
